High-profile Route 66 redevelopment breaks ground

The 78-year-old De Anza Motor Lodge has been the focus of redevelopment for over a decade and on Wednesday ground finally broke on the long-awaited project.

Go back to Albuquerque in 1939. The De Anza Motor Lodge had just been built and the flecks of turquoise in the flooring of the cafe were still vibrant. A $10,000 curb and gutter project in Nob Hill was underway at University Heights, according to a copy of Albuquerque Progress from that year.
