Vacated retail's future? Shuttered 1947 art-deco Sears store to be transformed

The currently vacant site of a shuttered Sears store in downtown Santa Monica, California is getting a $50 million makeover that will transform the Art Deco building into a modern office and retail complex.

The property’s owner, Seritage Growth Properties, is planning to develop creative offices, a rooftop garden and other outdoor spaces, as well as a market hall for vendors at the site, which will be renamed the Mark 302, according to the Los Angeles Times.
