Viewpoint: Prime concerns over Amazon
As the owner of locally owned hardware stores, you might assume I would be in favor of Amazon locating in our region. After all, wouldn’t that mean more customers for my business and more tax revenue for the city? In reality, Amazon.com’s HQ2 is horrible for local businesses, yet we continue to offer massive subsidies and other favors for Amazon to locate here.
We opened our first store in 2003 and have grown to 12 locations and 260 employees. We have not received any public subsidies or incentives…
