Opposition mounts to a pro soccer stadium on Austin parkland
An Austin City Council member doesn’t want city-owned parkland to be used for a professional soccer stadium, including on a waterfront park in her district.
City Councilwoman Ann Kitchen uploaded a resolution Wednesday to the Council message board that remove Butler Shores Metropolitan Park and Roy Guerrero Park from consideration for a Major League Soccer stadium. Kitchen has asked for a vote on the resolution during Council’s Feb. 15 meeting.
