East Bay biotech pivoted to cancer, found new space — now CEO is leaving, 82 jobs are cut

Dynavax Technologies Corp. will cut 82 U.S. jobs as it turns its focus back to a vaccine business that had taken a backseat to cancer.

The Emeryville company (NASDAQ: DVAX), which last year signed a lease to move from Berkeley into nearly 76,000 square feet in Wareham Development Corp.’s EmeryStation West, said the restructuring will eliminate about 37 percent of its U.S. jobs. It will be completed by the end of the year and will cost $5.5 million.
